Power is in the Details

Sophisticated electronic engine management, superior fuel economy and plenty of power make the 2007 MBE 900 the perfect choice for medium-duty and vocational applications. Take a look at some of the innovative ways we've made the MBE 900 the engine to want.

Innovations

The sixth generation of DDEC controls redefines the way diesel engines are managed. Our DDEC VI electronic controls use dual microprocessors and sophisticated diagnostics and analytics to give you up-to-the-minute data on all of your engine's vital systems. DDEC VI responds automatically to critical systems failures to prevent further damage and repairs to the engine.

Optimized Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

With sophisticated, reliable electronic controls, the MBE 900 takes exhaust and sends it back through the engine where it's water-cooled and routed back to the intake manifold. Then, the Aftertreatment System's filtration process cleans the exhaust before the air re-enters the atmosphere.

SMART System

The SMART fuel system features high-pressure, dual solenoid injectors that provide exact fuel metering and enable independent injection pressure control. With multiple injection capability the MBE 900 engine is sure to maintain the performance and fuel economy advantages you expect from Detroit Diesel.

Multi-Functional Fuel Filter

The 2007 MBE 900 is equipped with an all-new multi-functional fuel filter that features two filtration stages, a fuel priming valve and a fuel-water separator—all wrapped up in a single, standard assembly.

High-Tech Grid Heater

For colder temperature operation—down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit—an optional DDEC controlled high-tech grid heater is available. The high-tech grid heater pre-heats air in the intake system before it enters the engine. That means better cold weather performance, reduced cranking time, increased starter life, and reduced white smoke.

Maintenance-Free Electrostatic Breather

The electrostatic breather removes oil from crankcase vapor before it's discharged from the engine. Not only does it help to reduce harmful emissions, it recycles the oil droplets back to the engine where they can keep doing their job. And best of all, the breather requires no maintenance. Now that's innovation.
