4. Requirements for Contractors

The contractor is financially responsible for the on-site environmental remediation actions resulting from incidents involving their employees and subcontractors. To minimize the risk of environmental accidents, review and check the items contained in the Environmental Requirements for Contractors below:

1. The Contractor understands the requirements of compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations and the consequences of non-compliance.
2. The Contractor acknowledges receiving a copy of the facility's environmental policy
3. The Contractor shall not discharge anything to drains, grounds and/or sewers without prior approval from the facility's Environmental Engineering Representative.
4. The Contractor is responsible to ensure that his employees are competent (based on education, training or experience) to perform the tasks that have the potential to cause significant environmental impacts.
5. The Contractor shall immediately notify the facility's Environmental Engineering Representative and the Project Manager of any abnormal conditions violating Detroit Diesel/RCMC's environmental policy and other environmental requirements.
6. The Contractor will report any spills and other releases to the environment immediately to Plant Security (313-592-5555).
7. The Contractor will report any accidents immediately to Plant Security (313-592-5555).
8. The Contractor will manage their chemicals/materials by providing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and receiving Detroit Diesel/RCMC's Approval for any chemicals/ materials usage on-site prior to start of work. Copies of MSDSs will be provided to the Project Manager.
9. The Contractor shall properly label, store and dispose of all their waste materials used on-site in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
10. The Contractor shall minimize the effects of noise, odor, ventilation, light, dust/mist emissions and traffic movement on and/or adjacent to the facility property.
11. The Contractor shall provide copies of all air monitoring records, waste manifesting documents and any other environmental documents generated during the project.
12. The Contractor will inform his employees that Detroit Diesel/RCMC's has an Environmental Management System and that they are responsible for their action while working on this site.
13. The Contractor will inform his employees of Detroit Diesel/RCMC's Health and Safety Requirements as found in Appendix J of this Contractor's Packet. A copy of the Contractor's site specific Health and Safety Plan shall be provided to Detroit Diesel/RCMC upon request.
14. The Contractor will inform all subcontractors working for him of our ISO 14001 EMS program, the Health and Safety requirements and ensure that the subcontractors abide by these same provisions.

Contractor Certification

I have reviewed, and I understand, the information contained in this document. I have the authority to represent our company, whose employees and agents will fully comply with the above requirements. I also understand that Detroit Diesel personnel have the right to inspect our activities and those of our suppliers/contractors with regards to our on-site activities.
